About Us
Adelaide Dance Project was founded around a decade ago with the mission of creating a fun, supportive environment where people can learn to dance and improve their skills on the ballroom floor. We specialise in Latin and ballroom dancing, and we’re socially focused — so we’re all about fun, friends, and the freedom to be yourself.
We cater for all ages, backgrounds and skill levels, and love helping newcomers try out dance for the first time. For our instructors, there’s nothing quite so exciting as seeing someone discover a newfound passion for dance.
So whether you’re a veteran looking to perfect your Tango, a swing dancer who wants to master the Waltz, or you’ve never set foot on a dance floor, come check out our welcoming community and find out just how much fun dance can be.
We’re based at the Fogolar Furlan club in Felixstow. Come alone or bring a friend. The first lesson is always on us!

John Perrotta (Director)
John is the founder and lead instructor of the Adelaide Dance Project, and his passion for dance and desire to share it with others has helped shape the ADP into what it is today. He started his dance journey learning Salsa over 20 years ago, and quickly found a love for it that saw him performing locally, and then throughout Australia.
Around a decade ago John branched out into teaching dance to others, and it wasn’t long before he made the move to found his own dance school, and the ADP was born. He’s also broadened his skills to include other styles of dance — such as Rumba and Tango — and build up a passionate team of expert instructors with a similar vision for teaching dance.
John teaches all levels from beginner to advanced. His long experience and sharp eye for detail mean he’s always on the ball with the technical side of dance teaching, but his easy going nature and witty humour mean his classes are always relaxed and fun.

Monica Valea
I started my dancing journey late in life, I was 40. 😉
A friend of mine said: “Come and try ballroom dancing with me. I know a great teacher!”💃
I wasn’t convinced, but I did give it a go and never regretted my decision.
Since then, I saw how much joy dancing brings to people, and I wanted to be a small part of their journeys.
Dancing is happiness!🎉
Julian
Julian has been dancing swing and other vernacular jazz dances for over 17 years.Julian has taught for over 15 years across Adelaide, Melbourne and Europe.
Starting in Adelaide he’s since learnt, taught and danced in Melbourne, the US and Europe. He has learnt from numerous international teachers and has danced his way across Australia, Europe and the US
Julian has learnt under numerous world class scene-leading blues dancers -Virginie Jensen, Noni Clarke, Barry Douglas and Brenda Russel to name a few- and has attended numerous workshops and dance camps including many sojourns at the world famous Herrang Dance Camp in Sweden.
Other than blues, Julian is versed in numerous styles of vernacular Jazz dance, and competes regularly in Lindy Hop, Balboa and solo jazz competitions – landing 2nd place in the Open Jack and Jill the Australian Jitterbug Championships in 2012 and 3rd in 2014 and finalising several years in a row through 2105-2019 in various divisions.
His overarching goal is to bring a sense of quality of movement, rhythm to dance. Above all else he focuses on creating an inclusive and supportive dance community to be enjoyed by all.
Ann Victora
Anne’s dance journey began as a child, waltzing with her father at home. The joy of dancing with him, the pride in his eyes, and the deep connection shared through music and movement has inspired her to teach dance.
She encourages her students to discover the pleasure and connection with the dance and their partners, hoping to facilitate the creation of beautiful memories through shared experiences, whether you are leading or following.
Her philosophy is that dance is more than mastering steps, it is predominately about building a synergy between partners and with the music. Her approach therefore blends skill development with personal growth by supporting her students to become confident social dancers, wanting to share the power of social dancing to create spaces where people from all walks of life can connect and express themselves through movement.
Key to her method is the understanding of the responsibility a teacher has in shaping each student’s dance journey , building self-confidence on the dance floor and creating an environment where students feel supported and encouraged, and where they enjoy the learning process.
Teaching for over 25 years she has enjoyed teaching across skill levels and styles. She holds certifications from the Federation of Australian Teachers of Dance (F.A.T.D.) in Silver Bar Modern and Latin dance as well as a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
She is a strong advocate of the ADP values and a great cultural fit, fostering a welcoming environment where everyone is inspired to discover, learn, and grow
